Dr. Carl Paul Alasko, PhD, MFT

Dr. Carl Paul Alasko has been a practicing psychotherapist specializing in couples and families for twenty years. As part of his Ph.D. in clinical psychology, Dr. Alasko trained for a year at the Istituto di Terapia Familiare in Rome, Italy, under the direction of Maurizio Andolfi. Dr. Alasko lived in Rome for ten years during the 1960's and is fluent in Italian.

For the past twelve years Dr. Alasko has written a weekly advice column, "On Relationships", for the Monterey County Herald (circulation 45,000). The discipline of composing clear, compelling answers to reader's questions that cover all relationship issues - from having a baby to dealing with an aging parent - has provided a rigorous training in effective writing. "On Relationships" has consistently been one of the Herald's most popular columns.

Dr. Alasko also hosted a weekly call-in radio program on relationships, which was broadcast weekly for two years over the county-wide station KAZU 90.3 FM. He discussed solutions to a variety of personal difficulties in a live on-air setting.

For eight years, Dr. Alasko was a member of the Board of Directors of the Beacon House, a residential drug and alcohol treatment center in the Monterey area. Separately,  he designed and initiated a lecture series on topics of recovery and relationships, presenting over a hundred lectures. For four years he organized an annual Conference on Recovery in Monterey, an event highlighting speakers such as Riane Eisler, author of the Chalice and the Blade.

Dr. Alasko is comfortable speaking in public, and enjoys the opportunity to present information that can help people solve problems and lead a more productive life.

Dr. Alasko lives in Monterey, California with his wife and son. Dr. Alasko has three daughters.
